Creating self portraits for the cubby area

The children have been very busy creating their own self portraits for their cubby spots. They started by painting the background of the picture.  A group of children mixed yellow, red, white and brown paint to create perfect skin colours. The children were encouraged to look at the photograph of themselves to help them select material to create their hair. Finally they used markers to draw their facial features and just like that a beautiful, framed picture was created and ready for their cubby spot!
