Welcome

I encourage you to use this blog with your child. Have them explain to you what they were doing, learning, exploring, creating etc. Use this as an opportunity to talk about school and to allow your child to reflect on their day.

Creating Baby Clothes Using Materials From the Dress Making Centre

These dolls are provided to all our kindergarten classrooms for the children to use while engaging in learning. The dolls are typically used for dramatic play. I entered the dress making centre on Friday as many of our students had seem to have lost interest in the centre.  I noticed that while playing outside the children really like including the dolls in their play. I asked them if they would like to make some clothing for the dolls. Immediately many students were interested and started to join in on the learning experience. The above picture is what our dolls looked like before the clothes were about to be made. The students had to come up with their clothing design, they were responsible for choosing all materials needed to create their outfit, they had to measure and cut the material and I assisted by helping them size the clothing. I was also responsible for using the glue gun to attach all items. The following pictures is what came about from this experience. The activity is not complete and will continue on Monday as a few dolls are still in need of clothing.
